We have been advised by the Club, that it would be beneficial for us to set up a Members Only area on our website, (many other Centres already have this), especially in view of the new General Data Protection Regulations coming into effect shortly. The information that will be available in this section, to all South Essex members, will be the minutes, newsletters, photo gallery and a new facility that Tony has set up where you can check on the rallies that you have booked on line during the period of the 2018 rally book.

This will go live on Monday 19th March and you will need to use a User Name and Password to log into this members area, which is available from Jean, Tony or any committee member, please contact them for this information.

I would like to thank Tony for all his help in setting this up for us.

At the last Committee meeting, the chosen name for our nominated guide dog was picked from all those supplied by you the members. It ended up with a decision between Bailey and Marshal, with the final winning name being Marshal.

The presentation will be made at the Redbridge Training School for the Guide Dogs for the Blind, Findlay House, Manor Road, Woodford Green, Essex IG8 8ER on Thursday 5th April 2018. We are lucky enough to be able to have a tour around the Centre, 10 people can attend at 10am for a talk from a puppy walker and maybe a blind person, then shown around the kennels and the training school. Then another 10 people can arrive at 1pm, the cheque for £1,130 will then be presented and the next 10 people will have their talk and and tour.

If you would be interested in attending, please contact Sue Maran.

Thank you to everyone that chose a name and supported the Charity Chinese meal and sponsored Paul & Will on their walk.

The Region is very pleased to announce that Mark & Debra Terry, from the Suffolk Centre, have kindly volunteered to be the Lead RBM on behalf of the Anglia Region at this year's National.

Now that this position has been filled, Mark & Debra are looking for members to assist them.

The Region is allowed 1 RBM (be it single or couple) per 25 units that book on the National and are allocated to our block.

Therefore, I would like to ask the Centres to enquire of their members if there are any members who would like to volunteer to be an RBM, and assist Mark & Debra at this year's National.

If you do have any volunteers, please send their details on to Alan Leslie, who will pass them on to Mark & Debra.

Many thanks to all of you for help and assistance.

Kind regards,

It is a great shame, but the Annual Dinner Dance has been cancelled for this year due to the extreme weather conditions. As a result and as we confirmed with the Golf Club by 10.30 am this morning no charge has been made, as with the DJ and coach company. We thank them for their understanding in this matter.

Whilst we do realise we have had to disappoint many of you, safety is our main priority as well as ensuring the Centre does not run at a financial loss.

Everyone that should have attended the Dinner has now been advised of the situation and I would like to thank Will & Penny and Phil & Jeannette for all their hard work planning for this years Dinner Dance and to Kevin for returning everyone's money which they should receive shortly.

Thanks and hope to see you soon, hopefully in the better weather.

I would like to thank the marshals for a lovely rally, the hall was open on Friday afternoon and evening we went to pay our dues then natter and chatter, Saturday hall was open then in the afternoon we had a quiz (which I managed to answer some questions!} our team came second. Half way through we had cake and tea/coffee.

Saturday evening we had a jacket potato ploughmans and strudel for afters very tasty. After we had eaten we had the horse racing, lots of cheering and laughter, it was great fun, some did very well others not so good. It was a great evening as we were able to chat to people some we hadn't seen for a while. Then Sunday flag pole guess what? more tea coffee and cakes great!

A great weekend thanks.

It has come to the attention of the Assistant Equipment Officer that the projector screen, which is in its own wooden box, is not in the lock-up.

If anyone knows the whereabouts of this screen, or any other pieces of equipment that need to be returned to the lock-up, could they please contact John Mack on 01245 360446.

Thank you

If you have a first time rallier attending one of your rallies, please let Carol Harper (New Member Liaison) or any other Committee Member know. We can then make sure they are made extra welcome and receive their rally book and a £15 voucher towards their 2nd rally.

Thank you.

Dogs are more than welcome on the rally field, but they must be kept on a lead at all times when outside their vans.

Please do not ask or try to take your dog into the social as this puts the marshal in an awkward position, which is unfair.

Thank you.

EASTER AT BASSINGBOURN - 29th March - 2nd April 2018

This rally still has a few spaces to fill. Graham and Gill would love to see a few more members join them on their first rally as marshals. They are being assisted by Stan and Shirley, Lance and Larraine and Tony and Rosemary so it will be a good one.

The Mid Anglia/South Essex New Year rally is now full, Mid Anglia are also full. Please phone Sue Maran If you wish to be put on a waiting list.

So that Glen can reach his deadline for the Easter Newsletter the cut off date for all those members wishing to put something in the current letter is 14th March 2018. Glen would welcome any items of interest especially about a rally you have been on and particularly enjoyed perhaps.

Thank you, your input is much appreciated.

Hi to all those who enjoy a chance to sit at a water’s edge.  This year the centre is holding 6 rallies that will encompass fishing events:

Doggett’s & Fish 6 Rally at Doggett’s Farm on 13th– 15th April

Crowsheath Farm Rally on 18th– 20th May

Riverside Rally at Riverside Village holiday park on 22nd – 24th June

Relax at Ratsborough at Boro Waters on 29th June – 1st July

Pirates of Carrib-Weeley at Homestead Weeley on 10th– 12th August

Fishing at Hicks Farm Rally at Hicks Farm on 21st– 23rd September

Added to our rallies is the,

Inter-centre Fishing Rally at Home Farm Fishery, Saffron Walden on 14th– 16th September, this is being hosted by North Essex Centre.

Last year we saw the centre catch 896 lb of fish over the course of the season; this included the Ladies, Men & Juniors.

It would be fantastic to see more juniors take part this year so come on Mum’s, Dad’s & Grandparents encourage them to take part in what can be a lifetime’s hobby.

I would also put out a plea for more Ladies to take part Linda would really welcome your competition.

At all of the above rallies members will be able to accumulate points towards thecentre trophies. These point’s awards are made up as follows at each venue, 3 for the winning weight, 2 for second, 1 for third, 1 for weighing in and 1 for attending. The points are accumulated from each venue over the season to give the winning positions. Trophies are then awarded for juniors, Ladies and Men for each of the winning positions at the AGM and added to these is the Bob Davis trophy for the centres heaviest weight during the season, this a lovely trophy to win.

I hope to see you at these events for some friendly competition.

Kevin Higgins fishing liaison.

Sponsored Walk for Guide Dogs for the Blind

On Saturday Will, Paul, Vicki and Dave set off from the Burns Night rally at Chelmer Valley High School to complete a 15 mile walk in aid of the above charity.

They all completed the 15.3 miles in 5 hours, so well done to them all. As a result and in addition to the £440 made at the Chinese Charity meal last November, a total of £1070 has been raised all together.

As we have managed to achieve an amount of over £1000 we can nominate a name for a puppy. We thought it would be good to have a name associated with caravaning,

Some of the ideas are Lunar, Cameo, Seccy and Bailey. If you would like to register a vote, please email me or drop me a line.

We hope to arrange a visit shortly to the Guide Dogs for the Blind training school in Redbridge where we hope to have a tour around when we present the cheque. More details will be put on the web when a date has been arranged.

Thank you for all your support.
