It was decided at our Committee Meeting on 25th March 2020, held online via Skype, due to the Covid 19 restrictions and cancellations of all rallies until further notice that the 100 Club draw would take place at the next meeting on 22nd April which will also be conducted through Skype. The winning numbers will be announced in the usual way on the website and the owners will be contacted as usual.

Stay safe everyone.

Kathy Blane and family wish to thank the Chairman, Committee and all members of SECC for cards and condolences received in memory of Terry.

We had many happy years rallying with the Club and long may it last, bringing friends together to enjoy on each others company.

Happy rallying.

Love Kathy

We have been notified by the Caravan and Motorhome Club that all rallies and events have been cancelled until after the 30th June 2020.

The Indian Charity Meal is also cancelled.

On behalf of Will and the Committee I would like to wish you all well and safe during this very unsettled time and look forward to when we can all meet up again on the rally field.

Best wishes and stay safe

Jean (webmaster)

After speaking to members and Committee,  I made the decision last night to cancel all South Essex Rallies until the end of May at which time we will review the situation.  Penny and I wish all our members good health and stay safe at this difficult time.

Will Thursby

Dear Member

Following recent Government advice regarding the coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak, we’re really sorry to confirm the National, at Belvoir Castle, will not be going ahead this year.

This decision has been taken following the Government’s announcement to implement increased social distancing, avoid large crowds gathering and to ensure we don’t put further strain on the emergency services.

We know the National is held dear by Club members, volunteers and staff alike, but the safety and wellbeing of our members, volunteers and staff is of paramount importance, so I’m sure you will support this announcement.

We would ask that you don’t call us while we are working through the process of managing the cancellation of the event, we will begin issuing full refunds as soon as possible.  Please bear with us, this may take up to 28 days to complete.

This decision has not been taken lightly, we appreciate your support and understanding during these difficult times.

With best wishes

Nick Lomas, Director General

Will Thursby (Chairman) has asked me to announce that all rallies are cancelled up until the The CAMC National Rally which is the end of May.

He will be giving a further update later today.

Hi Everyone, thank you again for all your cards & messages they have cheered Phil up no end. Well the latest news he has now a permanent dialysis line in his chest. All went well with that but unfortunately he later developed a fever/infection causing his blood count and immune system to be at zero. He is going through it at the moment bless him but trying to be positive. The hospital cannot do enough for him and are giving him the strongest antibiotics they can. We cannot ask for more. Hopefully things will improve soon.

Bye for now Jeannette

Hi everyone thought I would give you an update on Phil as so many of you ask after him. Unfortunately he's in hospital with kidney failure brought on by the myloma. He has been having dialysis since Tuesday but they are not sure yet if the kidneys will recuperate. They are starting him on a stronger course of Chemo today which we hope will work. We are still staying positive and looking forward to attending rallies as always.

It is with regret that I have to inform you of the sad death of Terry Blane who passed away on Monday 10th February in Shropshire where he moved last May.  Our condolences go to Kathy and family.  Details of the funeral to follow when known.

Hi Folks.

As Rally Secretary for this year, I am looking at new venues from the information gained from talking to club members. So many of you have done so much in the past, and we are all eternally grateful for that commitment, but we need more help...….. I said at the "Thank You" marshals forum, that my concerns are now for the present and the future, as without rally marshals, there will be no rallies. With no rallies there would be no centre in South Essex.

I have two possible rallies that I am requesting marshals for currently in 2021 before I book them. One of these is a Scottish holiday rally at a beautiful 4* club site on the West Coast, overlooking the Inner Hebrides. We had an incredible rally there several years ago. The other is the possibility of booking an old venue of ours, with a new theme at Walton on Thames...Apps Court Farm. This rally would be on the river bank of the Thames, with beautiful walks and cycle tracks, only 4 miles from Hampton Court. The proposed date for this one links in with a special race meeting at Sandown Park racecourse.

BEFORE I BOOK THESE I MUST HAVE CONFIRMED RALLY MARSHALS. Anyone interested in these , or proposing other new venues please contact me.

Rally Secretary

The January draw of the 100 Club took place at the Thank You Marshal's rally.

The winners were:

1st number was 28 and the owner will receive a cheque for £15

2nd number was 38 and that owner will receive a cheque for £10

3rd number was 1 and the owner will receive a cheque for £5

Congratulations to them all.

The next draw will take place at the Annual Dinner and Dance rally.

Is anyone missing this knife from their caravan/motorhome. I found it in the knife draw of my motorhome last week. I have no idea how long it has been in there, it is very similar to mine but when doing a head count I found I had 7 knives instead of 6 and this is the odd one out. I have obviously picked it up by mistake for which I apologise to the owner. If this is your knife please contact me on 07980405838 or

Jean Weller

Could all marshals please send in your equipment order forms to Geoff Appleton at least 6 weeks before your rally. All relevant information and request form is in your paperwork.

On returning this equipment could you advise Geoff of any missing or damaged articles.

Thanks for your co-operation.

We have been asked to advise our members that the East Kent invite for 4 – 6th December is a Christmas Dance Rally.  As per our Rally Book you can visit the Dickens Festival in the Day, and Party with our hosts on Saturday Night. Contact marshals for further information.

Rally Dates: 25th July - 2nd August 2020

This rally runs until 2nd August and not the 1st August as stated in the rally book.

The new password is active as from today (2nd January). If or when you require this could you please apply to me (Jean Weller - Webmaster) or any other Committee Member. Thank you.

If you are running a rally and you want a latest booking date for food/social/plaque etc. could you please put this on your rally booking form to be entered in the rally book.

Thank you

If you need to contact me regarding the Centre's Equipment, please can you either use my landline which is

Thank you.

Geoff Appleton
