CHAIRMAN'S CHARITY BOOT SALE

For those of you bringing items to sell at the Chairman's Charity Rally boot sale, unfortunately we do not have the facilities to dispose of any unsold items so must ask if you could take these away with you. Your co-operation in this matter would be much appreciated.


EQUIPMENT THANK YOU AND REQUEST

Thank you to all the marshal's that have sent in their equipment request form, I have received more forms back than in any other year.

Now a request that marshal's check that they put the equipment back in the bags as they receive it. In particular the Centres marquees, roof, sides, ends and poles which need to be correctly placed  in bags which are marked for each piece.

All equipment used for rallies will get some wear and tear but if the equipment is worn or damaged and not reported to the Equipment Officer it will not be replaced or repaired. It could be you that requires it in the future for a rally, so please either email or ring any reports of damage to either myself or John Mack so action can be taken to rectify the problem.

CHAIRMAN'S CHARITY RALLY

Following another visit last week to Orsett Showground the programme for the rally is coming together, all we need is YOUR SUPPORT.

So far you will have a licensed bar (reasonable prices), 2 nights professional entertainment, a darts and archery competition, breakfast, handicrafts competitions, a children's workshop, a fete, brass band, a music band, roast pork rolls, sea food, a dog show, dog obedience demonstration, singers with a cream tea, canoe racing, games, a raffle and the return of the gunge tank and still more to come.

Please send your booking slips to Kevin Higgins, post dated cheques dated 15th July for £67.50 are accepted, or pass onto any Committee member.

MAY 200 CLUB DRAW:

The May draw of the 200 club took place Sunday at Flagpole at the Fishing at Blind Lane.

1st prize of £20 goes to the owner of number 189.

2nd prize of £10 goes to the owner of number 164.

3rd prize of £5 goes to the owner of number 51.

Congratulations to all and the June draw will take place at the Stagger Back Again rally.

 


COME PADDLE YOU CANOE

This rally is now booking but is struggling for support.  It is a really lovely venue and John and Margaret's rallies are always great fun, it is a four day rally and well worth going to.  Your support would be greatly appreciated to avoid having to cancel this venue. Please send slips to John Mack as soon as possible if you are interested.

Rally dates: 12th - 16th June 2019

Venue: Bovinger Retreat, Moreton Road, Gubbions Green, Great Leighs, Chelmsford CM3 1PU.


THE NATIONAL - RAGLE HALL - SPORTS EVENTS

Hi, I am organising teams again this year to enter the sports competitions run at The National. Most will be organised when we are there and I can enter teams on Saturday, for play on Sunday. I would think that we should be able to enter most events, even if we join with other Anglia centres.

Boule, Lawn Darts, Walking Football, Children’s football, volleyball, Board Darts, fun run and Cribbage. All are available plus entries to crafts, such as baking, wine making and photos.

Please Note: Children’s Sports – running races – should be entered prior to going. Please see your booklet.

I am arriving Friday, so please let me know when you arrive what you would like to take part in and I will do my very best.

CHAIRMAN'S CHARITY (AUGUST) NEWSLETTER

It would be very much appreciated if you could send some photos and a write up of your experiences on any of the South Essex rallies you have been on or are going on this season.  It would be nice to help Glenn out in making our newsletters interesting and entertaining with your stories whether they be humorous or interesting. The cut-off date for the next newsletter is 14th August.  We  would love to hear from you. Send your articles to either Glenn (harperg1@sky.com) or to me, your webmaster.


SAD NEWS

It is with sad regret that we announce that Gill Pallett passed away on Wednesday 24th April.

Condolences are sent to her partner Derek and her daughters Lisa and Heidi and their families.

More details will follow soon.


CANCELLING

We have been advised by the Caravan & Motorhome Club, that we should have our cancellation policy shown on our web page, which is rule 2 shown in the rally book.

Cancelling: You may cancel at any time preferably by direct communication with the marshals or their assistants.  All cancellations received during the seven days preceding a rally and all non-arrivals will incur either a levy of £4.00 or the actual cost to the Centre whichever is the greater. This amount to be sent to the Treasurer within 28 days.  Non-payment may exclude you from further Centre events.


SAD NEWS

It is with sad regret that we have to announce the passing away yesterday of Roger Minnis. Further details will follow soon. 


STRATFORD ST MARY RALLY

Jeannette & I would like to thank the Marshals and all those who attended our rally at Stratford St. Mary who, collectively, made it a great weekend. The amount of food supplied by all was truly unbelievable, I'm sure nobody went hungry.
 


THE CHARITY INDIAN MEAL

 

Thanks to all the South Essex members, their families and friends that attended the Charity Indian meal last Thursday evening at the Thundersley Tandoori Parlour.

We all enjoyed a great evening of delicious food and catching up with friends and family and at the same time raising a wonderful amount of £423.25 to go towards our Chairman’s Charity the Essex & Herts Air Ambulance.

Quite a few of us, were lucky to win prizes on the raffle, so a big thank to everyone that donated prizes and to Bev for organising it and selling tickets with Tina.

A massive thank you goes to Will & Penny for arranging the evening.

We are hoping to arrange a Charity Chinese meal sometime in September so look out for more information coming soon.


Chairman’s Charity Rally – AFTERNOON FETE

We want to hold a Saturday Afternoon Fete at the Chairman’s Charity Rally in August.  We would like to make it a fun afternoon with a real mix, have stalls selling items and some fun items, such as games, face painting etc.  I am sure there will also be food and drink around, though I hate to resort to bribery.

Please could you let us know if you would like to have a stall to sell your items or run a stall for us.   If anyone has any talent to do Face Painting, that would be great.   Any other ideas to make it a great afternoon would be greatly received.  We have such talented imaginative members, I am sure you will come up with wonderful ideas.

THE 200 CLUB DRAW RESULTS

The April draw of the 200 club took place Sunday at Flagpole at the Stratford St Mary rally.

1st prize of £20 goes to the owner of number 62.

2nd prize of £10 goes to the owner of number 129.

3rd prize of £5 goes to the owner of number 121.

Congratulations to all and the May draw will take place at the Fishing at Blind Lake rally.


STORAGE:

For those on Dunton storage and are thinking’ of moving off because of price increase, there is a new caravan storage opening near the Five Bells roundabout. It has security gates, CCTV, 24hr security,and hard standing. The price is £600.00 per year. The name is Myrock (the old Cl Whitehall farm). Phone number 07903418780.

There will be room for approx 30 vans. It may prove useful to some so go and have a look.

Unfortunately this rally has been cancelled due to lack of support.


MEMBERS' AREA PASSWORD

The password for the Members' Area will be changing from the 1st April 2019. Please could you make sure you have registered your yearly membership with South Essex Centre (this is done free of charge through the Caravan and Motorhome Club) before contacting me (Webmaster) or Phil (Secretary) for the new password. The User ID will stay the same.

THE NATIONAL

It is good to see that several of you have already booked onto the National  Rally at Ragley Hall, Alcester in Warwickshire which is to be held from 24th - 28th May.

If you are considering attending, it would be helpful if you could book on with the Club on 01342 336666 or email events@camc.com.

When you have registered, please contact me, as we are hoping to be sited in Centre Lines within the Anglia Region. You will need to be issued with a South Essex mirror hanger so that the Regional Block Marshals will be able to see which Centre to site you with.

ALTERATION TO RALLY MARSHAL'S DOCUMENTS

An amendment has been made to Rally Marshal's Documentation with regard to FM Tags and their price increase. Please be aware of this before costing your rally.

PLEASE BE AWARE:

Your South Essex Membership has to be renewed every year through the Caravan and Motorhome Club guaranteeing your continued membership of the member webpage. The user ID and password will soon be changing and you will need to be a current member to reapply for this information.

RALLY PROGRAMME UPDATES

I am pleased to advise that the 2019 Rally Books have now been delivered from the Printers.

If you have already ordered one, and sent payment, your rally book will be posted to you in the next few days.

If you would like to purchase a 2019 Rally Book, either Send a cheque for £3.50, made payable to 'The Caravan Club, South Essex Centre" to Phil Goldspink. Alternatively see any committee member on a rally to purchase a book for £2.00.

We are please to Advise the the 'National Follow-On' Rally at Hatton Country World, has been picked up by Bev and Alan Walker.

Unfortunately the 'Clare Priory in Spring' rally has been cancelled by the landowner. If anybody wants to run an alternative rally on the weekend of 31st May to 2nd June 2019, please contact the Rally Secretary. Creative Clare will still run on 30th Aug to 1st September.

'Carnival Time in Burnham', 27th to 29th September is incorrectly shown as £5.00 per night in the book. This should read £8.00 per unit, per night, as the landowner has increased the cost after many years of charging the same rate.

Finally, a note to all marshals - Please complete the Equipment Request Form, contained inside your Rally Marshal packs, and return to Geoff Appleton, as soon as possible. This helps him to allocate and organise delivery/collection of any centre equipment you may need for your rally.

2019 AGM

Next years AGM will be on Sunday 20th October 2019 at Chelmer Valley High School. The AGM rally will run from Friday 18th -Sunday 20th October at the same venue.

We wanted the AGM rally to be held at one venue and as there will be a change of Chairman this usually means there is a larger amount of units on the rally, so because of this, the only choice of venue was Chelmer to accommodate everyone. The facilities are better too and more suitable for our needs..

The dates 4th-6th and 11th-13th October were unavailable, so that it is why the above dates have been chosen.

More details will be in 2019 rally book, but this is a notification for your diaries.

CHAIRMAN'S CHARITY

I am pleased to advise you, that following last weeks AGM, that the chosen Chairman's Charity to receive our fundraising for 2018/19 is the Essex Air Ambulance.

If marshals running rallies during this Charity year would like to raise funds by running raffles etc, it would be appreciated and after our Committee meeting next week, I will let you know who the Charity Officer will be.

RELAUNCH OF THE 200 CLUB

The 200 Club is being re-launched at the Hunstanton Hacienda rally for the Chairman's charity year.
